Emoti-Con! o.O

The Emoti-Con event was held at Parsons on June 2, where NYC youth showcased digital technology creations and engaged in conversations about the role of technology. Our senior scholars participated with the submission of their Beyond Bullets PSAs, the juniors presented their short horror flicks, and the sophomore scholars joined in the activities hosted by Emoti-Con to support the juniors and seniors, and to start generating ideas for next year. Guest speakers presented their work, spoke about their careers in relevant industries and shared their learning experiences as artists, designers and inventors.

More info about the day can be found here

Parsons Scholars Festival Exhibition recap!

On Saturday, May 12, 2012, Parsons Scholars celebrated the opening of their Festival Exhibition! Many thanks to sophomore and junior scholars who volunteered (while seniors were in class) and faculty and staff who hung each piece in preparations for the show!
Senior scholars first presented the PSA's they created with faculty Shola Ajayi, which were films educating teenagers about gun violence, created in response to their Senior Capstone Project. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session from peers and guests.

Family, friends and peers saw the selected works made by students, which were distributed throughout the 12th floor of the 6 East 16th street building, including a project submission dedicated to the Trayvon Martin case, seen below.

Congratulations to the Parsons Scholars, faculty and staff for the great work and a successful show!!!

Beyond Bullets PSA's

Finally... presenting the two public service announcements created by the class of 2012 in the Parsons Scholars Program!

These short films were created after the seniors decided they wanted to do more to spread an anti-gun violence message to their peers during their graphic design collaboration with Beyond Bullets for this year's senior capstone project .

Big thanks to Beyond Bullets for posting about the Scholars' collaboration on their blog and to Shola Ajayi for her expertise and guidance throughout the filmmaking process

Spread the message!

REWIND

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

And last but not least, the outtakes to prove all of the hard work that went into creating these serious shots!

Horror Flicks!

These three short horror films were made by Parsons Scholars juniors during a festive filmmaking workshop led by Shola Ajayi over the Halloween weekend last fall.  After the Scholars learned how to use HD video cameras, they worked in groups to create plots and storyboards and filmed around the Parsons campus in under 30 minutes. They then learned how to edit their films using iMovie and Adobe After Effects.

Watch if you dare!
